Hair Dressing Tips

Gorgeous hair that tumbles in a mass of shiny locks is something that every woman desires. While getting the plastic-perfect look sported on magazine covers looks impossible, it isn’t as hard you think. Following a few basic hair tips while styling your hair, will get you well on your way to hair that looks and feels fantastic.

Don’t fight natural texture too hard:

It’s almost a given. If you have straight hair, you want a bunch of curls. If you have curly or wavy hair, you want it slinky and straight. This can, of course, be done, but keep in mind that if it is done too regularly, it can have lasting, damaging effects on your hair. Always try and stay as close to your natural texture as possible. You can always find plenty of hair style that will work beautifully with the texture of hair that you naturally have. Also, it is a lot easier to work with.

Dealing with unruly bangs

Bangs look great, but setting them can sometimes be a problem. The most common complaint most women have with bangs, is the formation of cowlicks. Fighting cowlicks is easy. Dampen your hair, and then dry it forward with a vent brush. This ensures that they are weighed down, and makes them ready for styling.

Unleash the hairspray

Hairspray is your best friend while hair dressing. It is virtually the magic wand, and can work wonders.

When creating a style, use hair spray over sections of damp hair that you are working on in short bursts. This helps to tease them into a set that you want, and reduces the amount of time and effort that you have to put into it.

After you have created the style, to keep it, spray it liberally all over the dry hair. This makes sure that it stays in place, and reduces the chances of flyaway strands that may escape later on.

If you want to create added volume, spray the hairspray directly onto the roots of your hair. Then blow dry while lifting the hair and voila! Instant body.

Hair partings

This is a common problem. Many women complain that over time, a parting is formed in their hair, and won’t disappear, no matter which way they style their hair. To remedy it, lift up your damp hair in a vent brush. Blow dry it, and then flip it back, making sure that there is no parting formed. If repeated consistently, the parting should go away. You could also try changing the parting. For example, if you find you have a middle parting, change it to a side one. Do not stick with one for too long, since they can broaden and encourage hair fall.

Finding what suits you

A lot of people fear getting the wrong haircut. There are a lot of things you can do yourself to help you decide what works best with you, and help you narrow it down.

If you have a long face, then a style with volume and width will do the trick. If you have a round face, then a soft textured style will balance out your face.

Study your face. If you are unsure of your face shape, pull all your hair back and look into the mirror. Then, trace the outline of your face in the mirror using an old lipstick. This should give you an idea of the shape of your hair, and help you to visualize what would look good on you.

When you decide on a style, consult your stylist to clear any doubts you may have and before you know it, you’ll get the hair you’ve always dreamed of
